Products For Frizzy Hair

Posted on September 15, 2010 with No Comments

Lets face it frizzy hair sucks, its like walking around with a wild animal on your head and if one more person asks if you stuck your finger in a light socket you are going to snap. There are many reasons you can have frizzy hair. Some are due to the enviornment like humidity, extreme heat, cold, or wind. Frizz can also be due to a terrible frizzyhair1hair cut and product gunk that builds up. Using the right products for frizzy hair can leave you with soft shiny hair. So what products are we talking about you may ask? A good shampoo and moisturizing conditioner and leave in conditioner or oil will make a huge difference. By adding these few things to your everyday routine your hair will transform before your very eyes.

Here are a few helpful tips to help keep your hair under control. Don’t wash your hair everyday, this will dry it out, but you should use a leave in conditioner or treatment daily this will help deep condition your hair keeping it soft. If you have wispy hair use a light conditioner to keep it from looking flat. If you have thick hair use a heavy conditioner.

Try to use a deep conditioning treatment once every 7 days. This will help regulate your hairs moisture levels and make it stronger and healthier. A good recipe for a homemade treatment is:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1/4 cup mayo
  • 1 banana mashed
  • 3 drops of emu argan, jojoba or olive oil (your choice)

frizzyhair2Directions: Mix ingredients together until smooth. Massage into your hair and let sit for 30 min, then rinse in warm water. Let Air Dry.

This will leave you with smooth frizz-less hair, that is soft and well conditioned. The trick you need to remember is finding a product that will work with your hair type and location. If you live in a humid environment find a product that targets humidity. If you live in a dry environment target a product that hydrates the hair. Cream based products are great for hydration and they fight frizz, but make sure they don’t weigh your hair down.

Finally stay away from strong styling products which are made with alcohol. This will dry your hair out and make your frizz 10 times worse. Avoid hot oils which can burn your hair and leave it damaged which will make it frizzy as well.

Products That Feed Fine Hair

Posted on September 9, 2010 with No Comments

Their are a ton of products on the market today, but if you have hair like me half of them will not work for you. Sofinehair1 here is a list of products I use that work for my fine hair. These hair care products worked well for me, but i tried at least a dozen before them that just didn’t work.

If you have fine hair like me, a good vitamin shampoo is essential. You want something that will add vitamins and minerals at the same time, which is critical to fine hair. Only use a little bit of shampoo when washing your hair, and don’t rinse and repeat. When you have fine hair there is no need to. Always remember when looking for products that feed fine hair find what works well for you.

finehair2Also you want to find a conditioner that adds protein without weighing your hair down. Look for something that is going to protect your hair from thermal, chemical and environmental damages. It should also detangle and fight frizz.

A great product for fine hair is a hair nutrition vitamin, this will help feed fine hair the minerals it needs to become more healthy, stronger and vibrant.

With fine hair shine is the key, so look for a product that is going to add shine to your hair. They can come in spray or serum forms. You only need a little bit because it can weigh your hair down.

Because you have fine hair you will not need to wash your hair every day, so in between washes use a good dry shampoo to help clean and style your hair. They help suck up extra oil and help you get your hair under control.

Another good product to have is a root booster. This will help you get more volume while styling. It is easy to use and helps protect hair as well.
Finally you need a good oil treatment to keep your hair healthy I use an argan oil. I simply get out of the bath put some on my hair, wrap it in a towel and get ready, by the time i get around to fixing my makeup my hair is super soft and smooth, while it cuts drying time in half. It is that easy.

If you have fine hair these things will help you manage it better and in the end get great results without wasting money on products that don’t work.

How To Get Sexy Textured Hair!

Posted on May 17, 2010 with No Comments

Texturized hair looks great on many different types of people. It also looks great with almost every hair type, color or length.texthair1

You hair cut does not define who you are or your age but your age can definitely define you hair cut, as well all know.

Texturized hair can add volume to thinning and wispy hair types which are common among older people. It is also very popular with younger generations as well and best of all it is easy to do.

The first thing you need to do is make sure you have the right cut for yo body type and facial features. The unevenness comes from chopping the hair with a straight razor. Make sure your styles has plenty of experience doing this, the last thing you want is some razor wielding amateur slicing and dicing on your noggin. Razoring does not damage the hair, it just takes weight off giving it texture and depth.

With the proper style the hair will look smooth and rugged. For a more edgy look use a flat iron. Separate the hair into chunks, and run the straightener through each group to get max style-ability.

texthair2The right styling products are very important to getting that edgy look. You need a good styling paste or gel depending on what look you are going for. You are looking for a stiff hold that still gives you hair movement. You don’t want to lock it in place.

Wax and pomades are very popular as well, just don’t go over board a little goes a long way. The thicker the hair the heavier product you will want to use, but if you have thin hair and use a heavy product it will weight you hair down and freeze it into place.

Once you apply the product always use a spray afterward to give it a more edgy modern look. Simply spray some on your fingers and rub into your hair, tease and restyle.

This summer short is the way to go. If you have a short cut then this is perfect for you. Its sexy, fun and flirty and can also looks good on men.

One of the best hairstylists of today Tara Smith using her extensive knowledge of the hair care industry has created her very own line of hair care products.

Quoted as saying “Tested on film stars, not on animals,” her debut will be on April 15th in New York City hosted by Donna Karan, Duane Reade is also rumored to make an appearance in Herald Square on April 15, from noon to 2pm.

tarasmithThe product line is also a smash in the United Kingdom, the products are naturally based. They do not contain parabens, sodium laureth sulphates, glycols, artificial coloring, synthetic fragrances and animal derivatives, Tara’s line it targeted to be green and eco friendly.

Here number one priority is healthy hair and that is what she is trying to instill with her product line. It is a salon quality green line for an affordable price, you can’t beat that.

Tara collaborated with Dr. Roger Barr, who has worked with The Body Shop, Rimmel, and Cosmetica, to create products using natural ingredients like bamboo, avocado, olive oil, marine algae, soy, aloe, and yeast extracts, to get the best results using natural ingredients.

You might recognize some of the stars who have used the products Marisa Tomei, Demi Moore, and Rosario Dawson, the products have had fabulous reviews.

“Marisa’s a huge fan of my Base Coat Serum. I’ve worked with her for 10 years, but she won’t let anyone do her hair without putting that in first,” she said, “With Demi, it was my Straight Away and Big Baby Shampoos.” which we love as well.

With products like the C Curls and Feed the Root Shampoos and Conditioners, a Top Coat Glosser, and Rock On Hard Hold Styling Gel which help hydrate, feed hair and make it grow faster we say this line is a hit.

“I think people shouldn’t be nervous and they have to understand that it’s going to feel different because the products don’t contain all of those harsh chemicals,” said Smith.

The Tara Smith Hair Care Range ($5.95-$9.95) is now available at Duane Reade stores nationwide.
